The physical health risks associated with both cigarettes and marijuana are caused by the same thing: the carcinogens, or cancer causing agents, in the smoke. Nicotine and THC are the drugs, respectively, ingested by the smoke. It has been shown in studies that an unfiltered ingestion of tobacco OR marijuana is roughly three times as harmful as a typical filtered cigarette. However, the average cigarette smoker smokes far more individual puffs in a given time period than the average recreational marijuana smoker.

When looked at on a larger scale, cigarettes outnumber ALL other drugs, including narcotics, in related health problems and associated deaths. These statistics are precipitated by the popularity and highly addictive nature of cigarettes, as well what is generally considered ruthless, misleading and unethical advertising and business policy by the tobacco industry.

Yes. Cigarettes contain many toxic chemicals. They are also proven to cause cancer.

This is not saying that weed is good for you. It too, is a drug. And anything that gets you high is a poison in your system. The weed on the streets today, however is much different from that of our parents generation. Much of it is laced with other drugs that give it extra oomph. These extra drugs can be addictive in nature and can cause health problems or even death. Another big problem with weed is that many people do stupid things that can kill them or others...like getting behind the wheel of a car.

So if it is pure marijuana, and not laced with anything else it is most likely healthier than cigarettes. But in reality neither are very smart.

technically weed is worse for you.......but you don't smoke weed as often as you smoke cigarettes (atleast most people)......so people that smoke cigarettes are more unhealthy but only because of the quantity of cigarettes they smoke.

If you smoked 20 joints a day (pack of cigarettes) it would be a lot worse for you

A study of 2000 long-term marijuana smokers found NO significant increase in neck, head or lung cancer

This suggests marijuana smoking is LESS harmful than cigarettes

Yes. There are lots of chemicals in cigarettes. And it's doubtful that you'd smoke 20 joints a day. Then again, I don't know you...

In a word--Yes. Cigarettes have proved to kill people while the same cannot be said for weed. Yahoo recently published a report that marijuana is not linked to cancer. Some doctors prescribe weed for medical purposes while I know of no doctors who prescribe cigs.

That depends, what do you value more? Your brain? Or your lungs and heart?

Talk to a neurologist and he will tell you to stop smoking weed.

Talk to a cardiologist and he'll tell you the weed is healthier.
