My school has closed for the year. Now it's summer "vacation." However, my father is forcing me to sleep at my normal bedtime just like it's school, and he doesn't seem to want me to have any fun. Is there any way I could persuade him so my summer could actually be a vacation?

First of all, I'm not even 13 yet. I sleep until I naturally wake up daily (about 9 hours of sleep plus). Did you read? I'm not in school!!!!!!!!! It's summer!!! It should be like an actual vacation, with actual enjoyment!!!

You'll thank your father when you're 40 :) this is the time when you have to treat your body very carefully in order to be the best person you can be. A kid's brain needs 10-12 hours of sleep....much more than the 8-10 hours that adults need. You will be better at everything if you follow your dad's advice. Try to find time to have fun during the times you can and learn to appreciate what your dad is doing for you...he obviously loves you and cares about you!

You shun your fathers wisdom??? Hey listen up... your father is looking out for your ***. You may not think it right now but keeping on a schedule is the best possible to live a long and happy life. Take it from me. I have done parties and drugs and I stay up all night every night. Oh how I wish I could go back to school and actually be awake when the sun is shining. Instead I crawl to bed like a vampire that didn't get his nightly dose of blood. I know I sound like your mother... but hey when you hit 25 or 30 you will look back and say dammit why didn't I listen to that idiot now I live like the losers I see on TV sitcoms. One night a week is something you can bargain for but don't expect a free ride to go out and party like some frat boy 8 days a week. Ask you father what his reasons are for putting you on a schedule and ask him what long term effects going out 1 night a week would have on your schedule. I am sure he is reasonable and will get you to see that he means to do his best to give you a reason to stay on the straight and narrow.
If you want to be evil like me you can just hop out the window with a note that says kiss my butt left on your pillow. because you will get caught and you will get a lecture. But when you prove that your a man that can make good decisions then maybe he will lay down a little less of the law and open up more to your going out to experience the drab existence of the party people.
They are all drunken fools that will, in a few years be working at the convience store, right down the street from you. If you want freedom you have to earn it. You have freedom about your future but you will never have say so in matters that will affect your life in the short run.
I wish you luck bud, but I have gone down that route and if I had one wish it would be to go back and change all my bad choices to be a nerd with a pocket protector and found a company like microsoft.... But I'm not.. I'm a wash-up with no job and no life. You really need to focus on your life.... not jimmy-joe-john up the road going out and destroying thier brains. Peace out and think about it man... seriously

Tell him it's summer and you'll work to be back to being ready to school a couple of weeks before school starts. Then do it...

Get up before he does and go to sleep before he says anything the trick is to keep him guessing. then when hes used to that go out and get a job and get a place of your own and pay your own bills. yes thats it throw him for a loop.
