I agree with you. I wish we could always be so united. The problem is most people are so caught up in materialism and acquiring wealth that they become selfish. A huge catastrophe reminds them that material wealth is absolutely useless compared with the fragility of our planet, and the only thing we have is each other, human solidarity, love and social contact. These are the true human values, which have been eroded by capitalism. Poverty and disaster happen all over the world all the time, but it's only when we in the west are touched by it that we pay any attention. OPEN YOUR EYES AND YOUR HEARTS PEOPLE!!! LOVE THE PLANET AND EACH OTHER!
Stop wasting energy buying and burning resources, and spend some time showing compassion to someone who needs it.

perhaps an analogy might help
people who have been in automobile accidents become more cautious when driving.. and take the necessary precautions so that it wont happn again.
people who havnt are most likely to speed, not put on their seat belts.. drink and drive..
when it becomes a personal experience ppl are humble but if it didnt happen to them.. they will eventually forget about it and move on...
the only thing people can change this mentality is to create awareness..

What do you mean by united?Helping each other in term of money or material can not be considered as united.Someone usually help each other when there is a natural disaster happened but not when everything is all right.

I think that it is because everyone pulls together to help each other mentally - support each other and this will let others feel they can get through anything. Out of something bad comes something good.

i think this is b'cause now a days the people r selfish.they only think of themselves & they r united when something goes wrong cause whenever they r in trouble they might need help from others & i'm not saying that all the people r selfish.

Personaly I think relgion and politcs get in the way.....
When stuff goes wrong stuff like that is put aside and forgoten about for a while, and people just help eachother get things in order...... then they go back to not seeing eye to eye.
