Not only does the "West" not consider Islam an enemy, but, until recent events, few in the West even gave Islam any thought. Sorry, but that's pretty much how it was. Anyway, just as most Muslims would prefer to do their own thing while respecting that others are into something else, most Westerners have nothing against Islam or Muslims. I'm glad you feel that Islam has a peaceful attitude toward those of other or no faiths, and please be assured that most in the West wish Islam no ill. It's the suicide bombings we're not too crazy about.

There are some Islamics who see the west as their enemy - why would they be attacking them, and terrorists targeting the west?
As a result, the west have started attacking back to defend themselves.
Before 9/11 no-one was bothered too much by the Arabic countries. However since then there's been the 9/11 attacks, London bombings, the war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq against Saddam Hussein, and now all these problems with Iran.
With all this has come all the media hype which has caused panic amongst the western people, and their leaders aren't much help either - George Bush and Tony Blair.

the west does not see islam as their enemy, just as you say that islam doesnt see the west as their enemy, it will take along time unfortunately to rid ignorant people of these beliefs, but saying that you only have to watch the news to see terrorists making threats bombs going off in the west planes being hijacked etc, the first thing reporters say is the religion of the offenders, most people know that islam is a peacefull religion but you cannot have good 100% just like in the west there are bad people and good people. Its small mindedness.

Because Bin ladden is hiding in some Islamic country. Now if most if not all Islamic people don't hate the people from the west.
Why don't they turn him in. Where in the world are all these so called Moderate Muslims. that are supposed to follow the Korans.
Peaceful teachings. Yet they wont stand up and denounce those of their faith that do believe in Violence. The Muhammad cartoons. Just goes to show you how volatile the Islamic people are. The 'enemy' idea is mainly fostered by the political parties of the west, for whatever reason!
The idea is further propagated by extremist Muslim religious leaders spewing out hatred of the west!
I personally am not religious so when I say that I haven't come across any Christian religious leader ( fanatical or not) spewing out similar hatred of Islam , I say that as an 'independent 'I am not in any way biased towards Christianity!
The people of the West usually believe whatever their government tell them , Islam usually believe whatever their religious leaders tell them! We have fanatics on both sides!! And lots of propaganda on both sides.
I don't agree with you about Islam not thinking of the West as enemies, lots of them do, and lots of the West look upon Islam as enemies, because this is the way we have all been indoctrinated by our leaders.
Now the big question is what can we (both sides) do about it??
I have worked with many Muslims mainly in their own countries, and I chat to Muslims who are working in the West, I get on with them well, I haven't come across a 'fanatic' yet. The only thing we can do (both sides) is to shout down our fanatics whether they be political or religious. Every little helps!!

Most people in the west don't give a damn about Islam. We don't care what religion you are, thats what you dont seem to understand. To us religion is not that important and you guys are far to obsessed by it.

The only time we think about Islam is when it is rubbed in our faces by some bomber somewhere killing a load of innocent people and then telling us that he is doing it for Allah!

Sometimes we have arguments and wars with other COUNTRIES. Sometimes that leads to wars against those COUNTRIES. The war is against the COUNTRY, not the religion.

Simply put......no-body cares that you are a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Sikh, A Jew, a Hindu or whatever so get over it.

They keep attacking us. Even before Iraq, before 9/11, before troops were in Saudi Arabia, even before beruit, or the establishment of Israel. Since before most of us were born. Ever since the end of WWI, when America supported an Arab homeland by the way, Islamic extremist have attacked us.

I know that the large majority of muslims are not involved in this & should not be punished, but there are a few extremists that make all muslims look bad. These extremists twist the words of the Quran into teachings which are against Islam & against God. They brainwash innocent children to do their evil work. Such people are not martyrs but murderers, & those that send them are worse. While most Muslims do not support these activities, many are supportive. Still, our war is not against Islam, but these insane people, and the only way we know to defeat their ideas is to help all muslims achieve reform & freedom from oppresive governments.

It's because of anti-Islamic propaganda since the attack on the Twin Towers. In addition, in America especially, there is a lot of intolerance against any-one who isn't a white protestant.

I can see that most Muslims are good people and want nothing to do with Al-Quida, but somehow (due to the aforementioned propaganda) many people don't seem to get this.

I hope that you don't get unkind answers. Oh, too late. I apologise on behalf of my fellow 'Westerners' for their behaviour. It's OK to fear the extremists, but you become no better when you hate Muslims only because they are Muslim - this is the view of the extremist - they hate everyone in the West because they are Westerners. Do not get caught up in extremist thinking - if you think of people as people and not religions, classes or races it's a whole lot harder to hate them.

I am by no means against Islam and do not see it as an enemy. I like to take each person as I find, and as such, I have become more educated in Islamic culture and beliefs, through gaining the friendship of Islamic co-workers and customers.

I am not a religious person. I am not Christianed, or Baptisied, as I had the good fortune of having parents who thought it right that I be free to choose a faith once I was old enough to make my own choice. That is instead of being brainwashed from such a tender age as so many people af all religions are.

I can however see various reasons why non-Islamics peoples, of this nation hate Islam.

Here are but a few:-

When told to do so by the media, who in turn are asked by G.W.Bush and A.Blair.

When you see Islamic peoples demonstrating in my country, by birthright, about a stupid bloody cartoon printed in another countries newspaper, and whilst doing so burn my nations flag and glorify and pay homage to Bin Laden and Al Quida.

When you see Islamic people protest about our hertitage and request Christmas, and all things associated with Christians, be outlawed, as it offends them.

When you see Islamic peoples unwilling to adopt the traditions of this great county but then expects all the trimmings.

When Islamics are free to open Islamic Help centers and white christians are told it is racist to do so.

When mad bastards, one with a hook for a hand, are granted freedom of speech to spout their evil, and yet one mention of anything against Islamics, and we are looking out of a cell.

When any attempt to intergrate with the western society, by modern Islamic youth, is punishable by excommunication by the family and Mosque.



For me personally the burning of my Flag is an act of treason.

I have had members of my distant family give thier lives to protecting that Flag.

It is to me, not a Flag but is representative of this country and all it stands for.

By burning my Flag you are telling me that you no longer want to be part of this richly diverse and tolerant country, and despise it.

That makes me dispised and therefore Islamics must believe I am it's enemy, not the other way round.
