The business is doing very poorly because the owner has had situations in his/her life where he/she can no longer put any effort into it. The business needs a lot of constant work to become once again successful.

Yes, I know of a real estate office that is like that. The owner is too old to continue the business and wants to move out of town to be with his children. He is the broker, and there are three agents that work under him. The problem is that none of them wants to work as hard as he did to keep it up.

There are probably businesses like this all over the country.

I had a similar situation. The business wasn't doing poorly, but due to an injury I couldn't run it any more. I quickly put it up for sale and it is now in good hands. I am proud of the new owners, and I am still healing. And I lived happily ever after.

Companies in hard times are always showing up in newsprint. A little research will unveil a plethora of opportunities. Though it seems you are too lazy to pursue the obvious. Don't purchase a business, you will fail.
