Peanuts grow under ground along the roots. The top of the plant is a small green bush reaching about 12 inches. Peanuts are very easy to grow. You can buy raw peanuts in the shell at the grocery store and plant them about 3 inches deep. You will get 5-8 peanuts on the root system of each peanut. Peanuts plants are actually very pretty little plants. If your curious just plant a few...the are fun.
Good luck

Peanuts are grown as a bushel - meaning that the peanuts are germinated and grown under the earth - when harvesting happens the peanut bushels are lifted and turned over of leave the nuts to dry in the sun then they are collected by a harvester. I come from the greatest growing peanute capital of the world - Kingaroy in Queensland, Australia!

They come from a vine. They are like peas in that they are legumes, and not true nuts.
