"The universe is a progressively realized concensus of interpretation" Josiah Royce

Your perception, and the validation received from the 'concensus,' totally determine 'reality.' The problem is that concensus carries a certain amount of momentum. While you may wish to perceive a world where pink elephants sprout wings and fly, many, many perceptions that you carry with you would have to be undone to achieve this. You can change things one conclusion at a time, but it is a slow process.

Anything is possible, but not immediately.

The act of Perceiving IS the basis of reality. It doesn't BECOME reality. I don't know about being "important" or not, but there are lots of "realities" Whatever a person focuses his awareness on is - in effect "reality". Even for example dreams. What we refer to as a dream is only when you shift your awareness to a different point of all the ones available to a human. At that point your perceptions are different, thus you perceive other "realities" See what I mean? And, GOD is the source of all reality. He gave humans the ability to perceive and to be aware.

Well, perception is a funny thing. It can be wrong.

Say I percieve myself as invincible, and then I sleep with a bunch of guys who have AIDS. My perception won't really get me very far, will it?

In a lot of cases though, perception does change things. I once knew a guy who was getting bad grades, and he thought I could write a spell that'd make him get good grades. So I made up some random words and told him to say them, and then he ended up getting better grades because he believed it had power even though it didn't. He just had more confidence in my abilities than his own.

Reality is important, but there are many people whose perception of things is what they believe. But if I see a red rose and perceive it to be blue, it is only blue to me. The rose is still red.

No offense but reality is reality. if you're overweight but perceive it as being "healthy" you're lying to yourself whether it looks good or not. If your a promiscuous woman looking for a father figure perceiving your actions as a misguided person looking for something stable society sees you as a s.l.u.t and that's reality. Perception can become reality but who else besides you will live in it?

Your perception can become your reality in and of yourself. However, that does not make it true reality. There is a difference between percieved reality and true reality.

Reality is important. Perception is your view of it. Perception's basis is reality. One cannot deny reality and give in blindly to misguided perceptions people have.

no, it may not be reality that is important, but how can you percieve things for perception to become reality, if the reality of things to be percieved isnt important.

Yep...and it's true too. That's why people can be racist, sexist, or just plain stupid....the way you percieve things jades and/or clears your vision of the world.
