Which offers the best work for the best pay? Pros and cons of any of these careers? Am trying to decide whether to start as an LPN, then bridge to RN later (no RN programs in my area, but I may be able to do that later, if I'm working as an LPN), or medical lab technician? How about pharmacy tech? I'd be very happy to hear from anyone in any of these careers, or other medical careers requiring 2 years' study. I am not thinking of sonogram or respiratory tech, since those programs are so hard to get into. Thanks.

Hi!! let me help you somehow; If you get into the LPN program, there are programs that may help you accelerate into the RN program since you have the groundwork; Pharmacy Tech is usually a certificate program; that is a growing field; Medical Billing is very good; however, check out what each entails; where I live, the local college in my town bought most of the tech colleges and combined it into one and the LPN program merged with the RN program and they started a mobility track where if you have your LPN you can only take like seven classes and finish; but hey check out each and I wish you the best; also most of these fields, there is a need for them; Nursing is critical right now; Pharmacy Techs as well.

I believe, around the country, LVN's and lab techs make similar salaries. Pharmacy techs make less. My advice to you is dont base your career on money (though it can be one point). Base what you choose to do for the rest of your life on which job will make you happier and more fulfilled as a person.

Although you didn't mention the dentistry field (so not sure if you are interested) you could try dental hygienist.
