It seems to me that it would be humiliating the way they constantly want to entertain us by just your sexual preference. My gay friends are smart, talented, funny, involved with the betterment of our community, they support the arts, they hold jobs, etc. They do all this without throwing gay sex jokes in my face. Aren't you offended by the Will & Grace type shows? If not, then I'm offended for you.

I kind of agree with this, because being a 'gay person' is defining you only by who you have sex with. It could be compared with defining a person only by their gender, race/culture, religion, etc. I mean, who wants to be the token anything? But on the other hand, as long as we're portrayed in a positive light how much can we complain? Stereotypes are stereotypes, and most TV shows (esp. sitcoms and so-called reality shows) are nothing without stereotypes and reducing everything/one to the basest level. At least we're in the mainstream media... somewhat. Which is a long way, baby. ;)

There are just as many heterosexual shows that do the same thing. It's just more noticeable because being gay is the "in" thing to be right now. I am a lesbian and came out in the 70's. It was not even fathomable to consider a TV show with a gay character on it.

Im not gay, but ill tell you that the way they have shows out there really make people get the wrong impression that gays are like that. I know theyre not, but thats the impression theyre giving people. But, TV pisses me off in general because they always play up everything in order to compete with other networks so they make men look like pigs, women look like desperate jerks, people look unrealistic...etc... I mean, its so terrible. The women always have to look perfection and girls now follow that and that y theres eating disorders and so on. (same with men) All around, TV just totally misses real life.

I agree with u. Gays are normal people and they are just the same as everyone else. So, they emphasize sex because this is the only thing that is considered to be immoral.
