Just read it and ponder it. I know it was written several decades ago. Have a good nite and I will be checking in the morning for what you have to say.

Not for nothing, but did any of you even bother reading the short story that was written by a Marine Corps Major General? And Did I say that Bush was the only one who brought us into a war so his buddies could profit?

This story was written by a man who had 1st hand knowledge of war, something that most of us don't have. By a man who thought that by joining the Marines he could help make a difference and discovered that the politicians and corporations knew that they could make $ in the process of war.
WWII, just cause, but it took us years to get there when we should have been there from the start fighting to remove an evil man from power. I cannot think of one war since WWII that is justified. Iraq WOULD have been if they had gone there when Al Quaeda was actually there (we got there a little too late).

I'm not looking for conspiracy theories and I very much understand about human nature and how terrible we are to each other. That's this is terrible. War shouldn't be profitable, but it is. And the greed in human nature that makes people think that it doesn't matter that these children, our children, are dying so that they can make a buck is disgusting. It's not about conspiracy theories, it's about how humans aren't doing the right thing for their fellow man. It's about how making a profit and self worth has become more important then the poor mans child stuck in a war. It is about human nature. Conspiracies do exists, I'm not paranoid though, it doesn't affect me greatly, but it does affect other people, and that's what really bothers me about it. The blatent disregard for human life and feelings so that a few men, who already have $ can make more. Its about human character, or lack thereof. Isn't that all part of the darkness of human nature, something that we need to work to fight?

Hi Mitch, I read all your responses. I don't think its a whole industry of people, I think its a few. But thats all it takes. I'm not cynical, I'm scared. I know that this has been going on forever and I think that maybe it's time that we try to get over ourselves (each individual person) and realize that the answer lies not only with how we treat ourselves, but everyone around us. We each have personal responsibility work hard for us and our family, but to not blatently hurt those in our paths just for personal gain, whether intentional or not.
I am slightley skeptical of a few peoples motives, and that I guess makes me cynical, but its not on a large scale. I think that most people are just trying to survive, but I am cautious of those few who will do anything for a buck, no matter who they hurt in the process, calously, with no regard for their actions.

Make sure you read what I edited in your last article about the difference between democrats and republicans, I am interested in hearing your opinion.

As for this question, there are companies for everything. Who do you think makes bombs and jets, and of course the profit from war. However, war is hardly a "racket". Again, it is cynical for you to think a whole industry of people would push for war to get some money. I am not saying that these companies aren't happy they are realizing a profit now, I am saying that noone would trade 3000 American lives for a 10% gain in their portfolio.

I don't think it was a racket to begin with. I'm sure some people have used it for personal gain. If you've read it then it was maybe published by someone who was pacifist in the first place.
It would be nice if there was total peace, but everyone else has to cooperate and not fly planes into buildings and blow up unarmed civillians on purpose to protest something or other. There are better ways to make your point (and peaceful too).

War is fog. War is hell. All is fair in love and war. War sucks. War is not a racket, though people tend to profit from arms sales. And Bush lied us into war so his buddies at Haliburton could make all of that money ... right? Stop looking for conspiracies and try to understand the part of human nature that makes it possible for us to slaughter each other by the millions. 50 million died in WWII.

Human rulers aren't delivering what mankind urgently demands Consider those matters that men and women all over want, that human governments aren't delivering however that God has promised: (one million) Life in a global loose from the chance of battle.—Isa. two:four; Ps. forty six:nine, 10. (two) Ample meals for each person.—Ps. seventy two:sixteen. (three) Comfortable housing for each person.—Isa. sixty five:21. (four) Satisfying employment for all who want it, so they may be able to furnish for themselves and their households.—Isa. sixty five:22. (five) Life that's no longer marred via health problem and sickness.—Rev. 21:three, four. (6) Justice; freedom from devout, racial, fiscal, and countrywide prejudice.—Isa. nine:7; eleven:three-five. (7) Enjoyment of safety, with out chance to at least one’s character or estate from criminals.—Mic. four:four; Prov. two:22. (eight) A global wherein characteristics so much totally prized comprise love, kindness, situation for one’s fellowman, and truthfulness.—Ps. eighty five:10, eleven; Gal. five:22, 23. For countless numbers of years, political rulers were promising their men and women larger stipulations. With what outcome? Although the men and women in lots of international locations have extra fabric possessions, they aren't happier, and the issues confronting them are extra problematic than ever.
