Virtual means not real. The image formed in the mirror is not real image.

When the mirror is hanging in the wall behind the mirror there is wall only. But it appears as though there are objects behind the mirror. In real there is nothing except the wall.

Light ray appear to come from the image. That is why they are called virtual image.

On the other hand there are real images, even though they are images.

In Cinema Theater, on the screen images are formed. These images are real images.

If the screen is moved to front or back, the images will be blurred. These images are formed only on that spot. They are real images.

virtual means not reallly there... laterally inverted means left is right and right is left.

The word best used to describe this effect is caused "REFLECTION"....

A plane mirror is a flat mirror.. If your image was real there would be two of you.. are there two of you? or is your reflection just a reflection?
