An organic gardener was on television and he gave several non toxic remedies for household pest and he suggested a 50 50 mix of coconut oil (Non alcohol type) and white vinegar, I spritz spray my floors and around windows once a week and I haven't seen any spiders, so I guess it works.

Spiders are almost impossible to keep out, unless you are willing to buy a couple of lizards, or a cat, to eat them as they get in, you are pretty much stuck, sharing your new home, with the neighborhood spiders.
