because we accidently voted for thoes people who support that into office. But I agree....it is time for people to get off their lazy backside and get a job. My mom is legally blind and has masters degrees and works full time. They just want to use the government to be lazy and quite honestly it is stealing from the government....don't those people have any pride in themselves!

For the most part people on government assistance ARE LAZY. I was a cop for 15 years, and dealt with alot of people on some version of government assistance. I went to law school and currently work in a child support office. The amount of 2nd & 3rd generation welfare families is staggering.
I always wondered how someone can never find a job? I've never been unemployed since I was 16 (I'm now 41). I've worked in fast food restaurants, factories, etc. Get off your lazy a$$ and find a job...
Its also amazing to see the amount of people who are "disabled", and recieve assistance, such as SSI. It funny that they can drive and go shopping. Hell, when I was a cop we used to get in fights and foot chases with "disabled" people all the time.
Concerning child support, the mother comes in and is worried how anything will affect her welfare. Most of the time they don't want the father held accountable, until we threaten to take away their benefits. Then they complain because the money the father pays goes to reimburse the state for the welfare payments.
GO GET A JOB, AND STOP SUCKING UP MY TAX MONEY...YOU LAZY A$$ PEOPLE...

Because the communist government knows it can retain power by buying votes from those depressed by the socialist economy using federal money stolen from taxpayers, and tells people that only the rich pay taxes, and the poor people deserve that money.
To fix our welfare state, money cannot be given out. Ever. For any reason. Only medical treatment and food can be provided. And there should be homeless shelters. But never money, ever.
Income tax is by definition socialist. I should be able to keep what I earn, and only be taxed on what I buy. I support a higher sales tax, and no income tax. That would be capitalist. I can keep my money for a rainy day, and still pay taxes when I decide to spend my money.
I would gladly pay higher taxes if I knew all it was used for in terms of welfare was emergency care and food, and the construction of homeless shelters. However, the welfare check has to stop, and people on welfare should never recieve cash money or even coupons, only standard issue government items.
But then again, that would make too much sense.

Because the working people can support themselves.
I find it funny that some think that is the Conservative mindset. Republicans want people to work for themselves and not rely on the government to control their lives. Liberals like a socialist society, where the government provides your healthcare and makes sure you have a job and education, while a republican just makes sure you have the opportunity to do it on your own.
Liberals will continue to keep the poor that way because then it is free votes. People like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have done more harm to Blacks than any white republican has ever done. He has made them victims, telling them that they need help because they have been too abused by the past to do anything right on their own. It is insulting, and completely not true.

First of all they are not lazy people, they are just having a hard time trying to make a honest living . I live on welfare for years now I'm trying to go to college and make a good living and establish a good career. I feel that it is an insult for someone to call people like us lazy. To me government support has kept food on our table, a roof over my head and paying my way to college. It's a big blessing from God for me. All this money this country has and there are homeless people on the streets. to me that's a shame. There are alot of people that depend on the system to survive.

Welfare SUCKS. It is a system designed to keep you there once they get you there. Instead of really working to help these people get job skills they keep giving them money to not work. I think the whole system needs to be redone. A system that provides assistance for a certain period of time only if the person is disabled or is taking classes or learning a job skill. But once you reach that point of being able to take care of yourself (the poverty level needs to be raised, though) or you have reached the maximum amount of time to receive assistance, it's over.
Correction: I wanted to make a change....disabled people do need a certain amount of help, depending on the disability, and that shouldn't have a time cap on it.

Because there are so many of them if we quit there would be all out war. I mean right here in the USA. It is called entitlement and we enable them to be entitled. As with most problems, when we could have solved it we did not. Now us and future generations will have to pay for the folly. Boy howdy, there have really been some brilliant thinkers in power in the past and probably be more of the same in the future..

we all don't have rich daddies like you to do bail us out if luck turns for the worse...
If you're not rich and you're stupid enough to ask this question, you're tempting fate...
I find it funny that so many of the "workers" would actually be on welfare if anything horrible ever did happen to them... like a car accident where the other person didn't have insurance... you're in the hospital for months recovering, medical bills piling up and if you're not rich, you're family needs that income that's lost from you being in the hospital...
So if most of you had you're way... you would be screwed in this circumstance... maybe you're family could move in with other family members, but if one more thing happened like say a house fire for that other family member... then it's really bad news... and you would be thankful for that government support...
I've never been on it... hope I never am... but if, God forbid, something happens to me... I don't want to be the hypocrite that complained about it and then has to get on it due to circumstances out of his control...

Sounds like a budding young republican to me! Giving hand outs to lazy people dosen't give them much incentive to work, and taking a larger percentage away from working people gives them an incentive not to earn or make money. This is a pinacle of conservatism.
