I found turning the sound off REALLY helped. That way, I wasn't distracted by the sound and I could just go according to the flashes of light that light the screen. I also didn't look directly at Tidus, but off to one side that was dark, so when the flash happened, it seemed brighter.
I took breaks every 25-50 lightening strikes or so, just to rest my eyes. Just hit pause and go away and come back. I generally hit Pause while Tidus was jumping half-way back, since it gave me time when I restarted to get settled back into the game before the next strike.
Always remember to go a few extra lightening strikes more than 200, that way, if you miscounted (which I did, D'OH!), you don't wind up with only 199 strikes instead of the full 200. I went up to 210, just to be safe.
Also, there are certain spots where the lightening hits more often than in others, so look for those. There's also a pattern, but be careful, since those always lured me into a false sense of security and I got hit lots more.
It doesn't take long, and it's not hard, but it does take a lot of concentration.
Good luck!

you need to wait until there's a flash of light on your tv, then you need to press the "X" button. You can prepare for this by pressing the x button when the mist starts to gather. Although this is almost impossible since I have tried it for an hour only to dodge 100 lightning bolts. Good Luck!

Do what the person on top says and when your eyes get tired, pause the game. Don't ever go to a save spot or else, all your dodges will return to zero. Patience is a virtue in this part of the game.
