Will I be able to find a PC Technician job with a CompTIA A+ Certification and no experience? What kind of employment can I expect? Would it make obtaining a phone support position easier?

You will likely find a job - it most likely will not pay very well at first - but hey - you have to start somewhere. An important thing to remember as you pursue training is that regardless of pass/fail rate only a small percentage of your classmates will ever become truly good tech.s

There is no substitute for being a creative and conceptual thinker, many people do not grasp this. It's also why there is such a high drop out rate in the programming community - I would guess less than 10% who pursue a 4 year degree ever evolve to the point of true mastery, let alone stay in the course of study.

Keep in the back of your mind as you progress through training that the environment you are learning in is relatively sanitized. It is therefore imperative for you to really understand the fundamentals - not just do the exercises. Rote repetition of what you learned in training will NOT be a panacea for all the various possible issues, combinations of hardware/software installations that may cause problems - etc., etc.

Understand WHY you are doing what you are being taught. A certification does not an expert make - but it does tell a prospective employer that you have been introduced to certain concepts and practices, alleviating them of the need to start from scratch.

I started long before there was any sort of formal training available for micro computers (1980) and was fortunate to have evolved with the myriad changes that have occured since then. A very gentle and gradual growth process. In fact, I was an industrial maintenance expert and happened to be the only computer astute person in the corporation when they first ventured outside the mainframes. A lucky break.

You are getting dumped into a much more advanced environment and so your first employers are going to need to see what you are really made of before they will ever trust you to work solo and thus merit greater pay. Let's just say - they will if they value their own reputation anyhow.

Finally - realize that if a system is hooked to a proper electrical system - more than 95% of all problems will be software/configuration issues or caused by operator ignorance. Just replacing components will NOT truly solve most problems.

Go for it - if you enjoy mentally challenging work and solving puzzles - you'll be a truly great asset one day. It never hurts on a resume for ANY kind of non manual labor job, anyhow.

Yes you should be able to get a job with that. When I started that is what I had. It will probably be entry level though since A+ is just basic computer repair stuff. Try for an entry level field tech job or maybe a job where you'd be helping a network admin.
