ANY desire is a fabrication of an "object"-- the actual thing you get is never the same. (Nor do we ever reach the 'object') The point of dreaming is to make us imagine and bring us closer to actualization. When the actual disappoints... it is your imagination! that has failed.

Well, for me it sounds just like the question "why do I want what I can't get?". Probably because reality depends on more than your personal wishes and dreams. What you dream about may come true on certain circumstances which you may not agree with. And maybe because you don't think about consequences. the answer, to put it so would be you can't have your cake and eat it.

You also try to make the best of it, as someone already mentioned.

Often times the thing about dreams is the dreaming.

Hence, the old saying 'Be careful of what you wish for... It may come true!'
