Well, it may come as a surprise to many, but the "Universe" is actually expanding and contracting into itself at a rate that we humans cannot perceive. We think that the "Universe" is a huge place..to an extent it is.
However, I came to realise that while it is "expanding" it is also "collapsing" into itself. It is cyclic and almost in comparison with us being on this planet,
yet not noticing that we are actually rotating and tilting about our axis, and also orbiting around the sun (if we are in a closed room and cannot see the evidence of other objects in the sky). In many ways we humans do not have the capability of "feeling" such an event. Also, our scientific instruments cannot decipher this event because our technology is still very primitive...as you all know, we seem to be so "high tech" and modern but we are still using the inefficient internal combustion engine and very polluting fossil fuel... this kind of technology should have been discarded many years ago..but then....we are just humans...

The Big Bang is the event that started our universe. Two questions that science can not answer at this time -- what was before the Big Bang, and what (if anything) is it expanding into.
