If you don't have a thermometer... get one. In the meanwhile, touch your child's forehead and tummy with the back of your hand. If both are warm...your child is too hot. Take off clothing (if there are layers). Use a cool (not cold) cloth and wipe the 5 month old off in a sponge bath to lower the child's temperature. If temperature persists...see a doctor as soon as possible. Fever is VERY dangerous for young children.

Take their temperature and reduce the fever fast! My daughter recently had a febrile convulsion due to a high temp which was awful, very very scary!
If you dont have a thermometer, kiss baby's forehead if your lips burn they are too hot, they often feel hot with your hand but arent.

If in doubt dont rug up and get to the docs.

The fever is too high if it gets to 102. Call your pedi.

The reading are diff if you use a rectal versus an oral.. but I forgot// call your dr.

You can also use the ear one, or the tape ones across the forehead.

Feel of their backs,,and see if it feels warm.

Give water to drink

give baby tylenol according to package... ( PLEASE READ BOX 1ST~ or call ur local emergency room , or a 24 hr pharmasist in your area and check the dosage.)

The baby may be too young for motrin.
