If a woman wants to pick up the tab, that's her choice. There is nothing wrong with a woman paying. The days of the women staying home and the man working are long gone. In these days of equality women should expect to pick up the tab. The person who asks the other out should pay the tab.

Because they have something to prove. Women in America want to think that they are equal to men in ALL ways, so they've taken just about every advantage we women used to possess and turned it into something bad. If a guy opens a door for you, it's not him being a gentleman, its an insult, I say that's horse manure. I will take my gentleman any day, I have nothing to prove, I like being treated like a lady. I don't care to be "equal" to a man. I feel self worth regardless of whether I am mopping my floors or working 70 hours a week so that I can pay for a meal that no gentleman should allow me to pay for anyway.

Because many young American men are cheap and lazy, and they now mooch off of the young women who often have better paying jobs and nicer cars. Chivalry is dead in America. Many of them look down on women now and use them....thanks to rap music and the idiots who think it's "cool" to treat women like ****. But it's also the fault of the stupid young American girls who tolerate it. They need to stand up for themselves! And I'm an American woman with teenaged kids....

It isn't that they have to. But why not? If the girls have money, why should the guy have to pay for everything all the time? It doesn't make sense to me that a man should have to cover all the expenses in a relationship... unless, of course, he makes a lot more than his girlfriend (which is often, but not always, the case).

Why shouldnt they if they are in a partnership?
I would hate to be in a situation where I was paid for all the time.
I'm a human being, not something that is bought and then owned by someone else.
I'm English, and I live in the UK so it's not just an American thing

Things are different now compared to the way they were before. Girls ask guys out, girls propose to men, and girls pick up the tab. Girls are stepping their game up. A lot of guys find that to be a good thing. I personally love to pick up the tab. Its nice when guys do it too, but girls love to do their own share of pampering their men:)

Sometimes guys want for a woman to pay her half. If it is the woman's decision to pay half, then she may do it so that she doesn't feel "obligated" to PAY later. Some women feel that it is only fair to pay their half of any meal/movie tickets, etc. I think that if a guy asks a woman out, then he is saying "I want to do this for you", and some guys may see it as an insult for the woman to insist on paying her half. As long as both parties can agree on who-pays-what, then there shouldn't be any problem.

Generally I expect to split a bill, unless someone has asked me out as a treat. Similarly, if I surprised someone with a dinner date, I would expect to pay the full bill.
Nothing to do with whether it is a male or a female.
