A couple of years ago my grandfather died. I never experienced death in my life before so it came as a big shock and as a result, for several days following his death, my body litereally went numb. I could feel pressure, but other than that it was just a weird tingly feeling all over. Since then, whenever I get stressed from anything, my body goes into this "numb mode." I went to the doctor about it before and they just said I needed rest and nothing was physically wrong with me. But it's a very uncomfortable feeling and I hope someone knows anything about this and can give me some help. Thanks so much!

Are you having a anxiety attack. I have had them over fear for my children several years back. Then again when I found out my Ex-Fiance was terminal. I totally freaked out. My skin was all prickly tingly numbness I couldn't or had a hard time breathing. If you have ever done lamosse (sp) breathing it helped me allot. The Dr gave me a mild sedative but I don't like pills so I do the breathing. You need to relax, if it persists and is making you nervous push the issue with your Dr. change Dr's if you have to. But follow through and be persistent till you get the answer you need. Good luck

Ask your doctor to refer you to a neurologist. Numbness can be a symptom of Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis or spinal cord damage... just to name a few. Not meant to scare you... but a friend of mine had numbness and it was spinal cord damage. She had an MRI ordered by a neurologist.

It's your body and you are the boss. If you are concerned, don't allow your doctor to brush you off.

the tingling sensation is carbon-dioxide buildup due to poor circulation of the blood.
