Not really, but about 5-10 html things will go a long way.

Open notepad.exe and try this:

Welcome to my site

Thats all you need to get started. The title between the tags is what shows up in the blue bar, at the top of the web browser.

From there you can just type what you want to say, no special format.

means add a line,

will add a double space.
You only need those when you have a new paragraph.

Hyperlink is Click Here for new page

Picture is
Or if you want to make the picture be a clickable link then:

Thats about it, with those above tags, you can make a simple page. Tables, etc will require you to research that a little.

So other common tags are (no html tags are case sensitive, doesn't matter if its capitalized or not) :
This is bolded
this is italics
This is underlined
<strike>This is striked out</strike>

So type some of that stuff in notepad, save it as "something.html"
Yes, do include the "quotations mark. The quotations means literally save it as what you have inside the quotation marks. If you don't include the " quotations " then it may save it as something.html.txt

Go to My computer, and go to where you saved that file, now double click it, and it should open Internet Explorer (or you default web browser and display it.

Now you can go to notepad again and change stuff again, and hit File Save this time. Then flip back to web browser and hit Refresh to see the changes.

Heres a good place to start on all the valid html tags: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/default.asp

Just remember when you have a tag (ie , there should be a cclosing tag after something , otherwise everything will be bolded.

Notepad isn't that good for html, I like this program: http://mypeecee.org/rogsoft/notepad.html Its an enhanced notepad than the windows version.

Only other way to create webpages without learning html is to get a program that does all the work for you, like Microsoft Frontpage (easiest) or Coffe Cup Html Editor (http://www.download.com/3000-2048-10003347.html) is pretty descent too.

 2006-06-16 00:20:22 · answer #2 · answered by SharpGuy 6 · 0⤊ 0⤋

Yes you can.
