If you know how to go into your BIOS... you have to do that firstly and make sure that your CD-ROM is your first boot device.

And just use your Windows XP cd to format. Since it doesn't use DOS anymore. If you wanted to put DOS on it, from floppy. Use your floppy disk to be put on first boot device.

this may well be an incredible concept. I even have continually been a company believer that Anti-Virus products can help shop you secure and/or get you right into a working state, yet, that in case you ever contract a pandemic, you're able to format the workstation and wipe it thoroughly clean. some customers published some guides to doing this. those guides could help you out. purely booting up with the Win XP CD in the force could handbook you step by utilising step. some issues i might desire to insist upon: one million) Backup all your information! you do no longer wanna lose your Michael Jackson MP3 series or the photos of Grandma. 2) replace any passwords (utilising a clean workstation) you have used on the contaminated workstation. there's a intense liklihood they have been compromised. solid success!

do you want to format the hard drive. If so use the Operating system disk that came with the computer. put it in the drive. then reboot and it should ask to boot from cd. (if windows 2000 or higher) then format the partition it shows that has windows on it.

One way is just to boot off of your windows XP disk, after it loads the files it needs to begin the setup it will come up with a list of partitions on the HD. When this comes up you will just want to highlight which ever partition you want to delete and press the D key, it will then ask if you are sure and you will then want to press the L key to confirm that you want to delete this partition. It will go back to the origional screen and it should say "unpartitioned space" highlight this and press enter, it will then ask if you want to format the partition using FAT, FAT(quick), NTFS, and NTFS(quick). I would recromend using NTFS if you are going to reinstall windows. The quick options don't truely format the drive, they just clear the partition table.

you boot from a floppy boot disk, or a bootable cd, at the prompt, type format (letter of the drive)
and hit enter.
If you are installing xp, boot off of the cd, choose isetup the first time, and setup the second time and then let it format when it asks you
