Magneto. The adamantium thing would only be painful to Wolvie because of his extraordinary healing powers. Recently, he was able to recuperate after being torn apart. But, long time readers of the X-men will know that Magneto also can control one's blood, because of the iron contained in it. He could make Wolverine's heart completely stop if he wished.

If Magneto was unaware of Wolverine's presence, or incapacitated, then of course Wolverine could rip Magneto to shreds, but in a fair fight, Wolverine loses... Just about every time.

There are 2 schools of thought about this. The first school would say Wolverine,Spider-Man, and Ironman would win because they represent GOOD. And Good always defeats evil in the long run. The second school of thought says that Magneto, Venom, and Dr. Doom would win because Magneto controls magnetism and all metal that can be magnetized. Wolverine and IronMan have metal skeleton's or armour made of metal. Although Spider-Man does not have a skeleton made of metal the human body still has iron and other metals in it and Magneto could control his body to a degree.

Magneto would easily win, especially against Wolverine's adamantium body

Neither. It would be a stalemate because Magneto would drag the metal out of Wolverine, all but killing him. Then Wolvie's healing powers would kick in and then the crazy Canuck would get his paws on the weakened Magneto, but before he could kill the man, Magneto would get another shot at him. After all, blood is made up iron. And then the process continues until they're both too tired to duke it out and retire from the field.

Uh, this has happened before in the comics. Wolverine lost, he got the metal skeleton ripped from his body and was left for dead. The winner: Magneto.

Also, there are magnetic forces in every atom. It hasbeen eluded to that magneto is so powerful he can rip apart atoms. Plus, Magneto can fly, so wolverine wouldn't be able to do to much.

forget the films, they're not a good representation of the comics. mags might win cos he can manipulate metal and wolvie's skeleton is laced with adamantium (a metal, obviously!).
but it wouldnt be an easy battle, as we know from history, cos even when magneto ripped the metal off wolverine's skeleton in fatal attractions, wolvie was still alive. then he found he had bone claws, which magneto obviously cant manipulate. so wolvie with no adamantium and stronger healing factor may just kick magneto's butt.
i'm gonna call this one a draw, i'm afraid. i just cant see one defeating the other, or at least not easily
