Yes. Under Texas state law, (family statutes), prolonged and unauthorized absence by someone 16 years old is considered a 'crime'. Review chapter 51.03 (b) 3, of the Texas family statutes/child delinquency. The child's best interests are the primary concern in these cases. However, when the state perceives that juvenile conduct requires maintenance/supervision in order to protect the community at large, they can and will intervene.

Sounds to me like a typical teenager. A good slap followed by a hug and parental reassurance/support is long over due! Good luck and don't give up! By the way, is he an only child or 1st born? Sounds like it!

Yes they can be locked up.
Stop being at your wits end and just pack their things for them and say, "If you want to leave so bad, go. Here are your things all ready for you. Feel free to use the phone to call a taxi." Then walk away.
or
Ask them if they want to emancipate themselves from you and your spouse, which would be smart because then you are not responsible financially for the even stupider things this kid will do before they are 18.

Yes, I knew this guy when he was 12 ran away twice after the second time his parent put him in the boys home. Then he jumped the wall and ran again this time he stole a car but got caught in the next state and the judge put him in a home until he was 18 years old.

yes he or she can depending on what state you live in your parents can ask the courts to intervene on there behalf and you would be then placed on house arrest in most cases , but its a process if that fails you will be equipped with a monitoring device.Been there done that and after if you run again you will be locked up.
