I thought it was hilarious, absolutely hilarious. I guess it could have happened to anyone, but that it happened to a world-class doofus was priceless. At least he apologized to the guy, which is more than what he's done for the rest of the country for running it into the ground.

Bush supporter or not, the man holds the office of "The President Of The United States of America". No person in their right mind would address the "person" that holds that office (man, woman, Democrat, Republican) wearing sun glasses unless begging their pardon first. Even if that person suffers from an eye illness. It's simply a common courtesy. It shows respect for a president, a country, a system and its people. Remember, there is but one president and countless people trying to get a piece of him. I would have to say that the reporters apparent low self-image prohibited him from showing the proper respect due "The President Of The United States" thus creating the situation subsequently blown out of portion by a liberal media.

I'm not an extreme Bush supporter, but I find those remarks slightly offensive but hilarious. X) (Not for the blind guy, but for us. This will make an interesting story to tell our descendants when they ask us "Mommy (or grandma), what kind of President was George Bush?" (At the rate he's going, someone will eventually bring him up in a future classroom discussion, etc.)

The President meant no harm by his comment, and actually if you watch the reaction to the reporter he was referring to he laughed. The President apologized and the reporter said no apology was necessary because he had not informed anyone at the White House of his condition, so he did not expect the President to know.

Our president is a down to earth guy, and he enjoys people. He said that in fun.
Later, when he found out that the man had an eye problem (not blind) he called and apologized. The man replied, No problem, Mr. President....

What is your problem?

He was joking around with him and when Bush found out that it was a medical condition he called to apologize and the reporter accepted it. Bush was joking around through that speech.

I have to say, despite myself, that he entertained me. Especially with his calling the guy afterwards and apologizing. He is the three stooges rolled into one.
