Excess Baggage (book) - changed for the better. The premise of the book is that we all carry excess baggage because of family, etc...and that we bring it into our new lives and it just weighs us down. Not all excess baggage is bad, but some is not necessary. After each chapter it would give you a little exercise. One was, for example: we w/raised to do certain things....like making up our bed if not, oh my goodness. So the exercise was not to make the bed for a week and see what happened. Well, the first day of my exercise (it was kinda weird leaving the bed unmade, I k ept wanting to go upstairs and make it) anyway, the first day I did it, i came home from work to find the bed made. My husband had made it thinking I had run out of time in the morning (i was the last to get up)....this went on for 3 days...finally I told him why I wasn't doing it.....so he stopped - I didn't stop him before because I truly couldn't let go of that bed making 'thing'---I make it everyday, but when I don't , I don't feel
bad' about it...whichis what I felt before. ...

so it was a book I still remember...Also: MEN are FROM MARS Women are from Venus - I learne how to 'talk' or not talk with my husband! GREAT HELP.

This is gonna sound really lame, but I used to know nothing about music last year, then I started listening to the radio more and more and by just listening to the lyrics and the deapth of the classic rock I have been changed into a somewhat new person. I actually have a life and now whenever someone asks what my fav band is I can have an answer! w0ot! Hooray for me!

Anglela Davis the autobiography changed my life, I read it in college, I relized when I read it that racism does not just come because of color or because of dialect it comes from bias, and peoples twisted perceptions, in the begginning of the book, Angela Davis goes to a Southren shoe store in the jim crow days, Angela Davis is african american, as she enters the store that kicks out all blacks she speaks in French, the store owner thinks she is some exotic export from france and he literlly begins kissing her ***. Now in all this her color, her color never changed, but ahh with the simple twist of perception a whole bias can be changed.

Sure there is one book that changes everybodies life for the better. The Bible. I know it isn't what you wanted to hear in answer to this question, but it is the only one that impacted me enough to change my life, for better or worse.

Some of the books that have changed my life over the years:

1. "The Prophet" - Kahlil Gibran

2. "Monster" - Robin Morgan

3. "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" - Richard Bach

4. "Original Self" - Thomas Moore

5. "Fifth Sacred Thing" - Starhawk

It might sound stupid, but watching Pride & prejudice made me realise what kind of romance I want. I really hope for something similar to that. (the way they love each other, not all the trouble they went though)

(The original) Pride & Prejudice. It really opened my eyes at the class systems in place and the hypocrisy of assumptions.
