Hell yes! Don't get me wrong, my mom was a great mom. But she didn't play around about certain things. Once I told her I was going to get a tattoo when I turned 18. She said if I did she would burn it off. I laughed, I couldn't seeing my sweet mother doing that. All she said was "ask your sister". So I did. Needless to say, I still to this day haven't gotten a tattoo.

I'm not now, but I was. I now know how to handle her but I had to escape after living with her for a short peroid when I was 38.

I was afraid of my mother until I was 34. Then, she had a stroke and she became my best friend. You just never know.

No, I'm annoyed by my mother but not afraid of her. I do appreciate the things she's done for me though.

yeah, to me, that's sad, but she thrives on it. but what's even sadder is, eventually, instead od admiring her for it, I'll loose respect for her. I'm almost thirty, and she treats me like I'm ten. I know all parents do this to their kids in varying degrees, but geez, when will they just let up? I know the answer, but I do wish it was sooner. I tell her these things and she just says if we kids don't like her telling us what to do, she'll just remove herself from our lives forever(drama queen), so what are we supposed to do as her children? Argh! MOMS!

I'm 58 and would not say or do anything that would upset my Mom, but not because I'm afraid of her. It's because I respect her.
