Yes we did take Gold every olympic game since softball was admitted in 1996!!

OMG!!! i know & im gonna like cry!!!!! softball is my fav. sport! and i wanted to play in the olyimpics!

There are still some heavy negotiations going on between the IOC and ISF folks to return at least the softball portion back to the Olympics. An interesting tidbit is that an American on the IOC did not vote (abstained from voting) and was the deciding factor in removal of softball. He is an equipment manufacturer and didn't want to seem biased.
Yes USA softball has been gold since its inception into the Olympics, with the US dominating all play. Fastpitch softball has not progressed as much in other countries for whatever reasons, so I can understand some IOC members wanting it removed. If it were up to me, I would leave them both in, BUT>>> I really don't care about the olympics at all. I would much rather see fastpitch softball in the USA become more succesful in the pro sports arena.
Besides, the had to take BB and SB out of the Olympics to make room for the synchronized Tiddlywinks event!

There is better reason to have rugby in the olympics than baseball. There are more good countries, better competition, and a better game.

I think that baseball games are just too time consuming for the olympics and softball too. For that matter, basketball should be taken out too.

i am upset that softball is removed as the olympic commitie is trying to give women more sports to be in as for baseball if mlb would follow nhl then yes it would be worth watching but since mlb doesn`t care about the olympics well the baseball deserves the ax but womens softball needs to contiinue

I believe they should have kept them in - baseball is definitely becoming a more global sport. Just guessing, but it's likely because the USA proposed them is part of the reason they are both gone now.

I am disappointed. They will add 2 other sports (less popular) and that angers me. The World Baseball Classic was great and there should be more competeion then just the MLB.

Oh please ! I sat through every single one of the Team USA baseball games in Atlanta and, although I love baseball, it is not an Olympic sport ! Nor does Team USA will gold every time !

i think it sucks that baseball was taken out and i completely agree with you that nobody likes America. i say this because the whole world hates us for doing whatever we want. for example, Bin Laden....
