I would like to visit a lot of countries, especially western europe. The Eurailpass seems pretty good, but I know I will not be taking the train every day. (For example, from England and France to Italy is pretty far) I'm also considering the flexi pass, but would it be cheaper if I just fly? Anyone has any experience doing the same thing? thanks!!

Go to the Rail Europe site http://www.raileurope.com/us/index.htm and figure out whether buying a pass is cheaper than point-to-point tickets. Flying would cost you more but you might pick up a bit of sightseeing time.
