Yes, 2002 due to lagging sales.
The final model year, 2002, offered a distinctive 35th anniversary edition that paid homage to the 1969 Trans Am. Like the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird and Trans Am were built in Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec. The plant closed down after producing the last cars.

They have temporarily stopped making the firebird, probably in about another year and a half, after chevy releases the new camaro they will release a new firebird. They are wanting to redo the entire chassis setup and everything, just like they did with the cavalier going to cobalt, the S-10 going to Colorado, but the firebird is a time taker, just like the camaro was, they wanna MAKE sure its strong, tight and quick.

yup, firebird and camaro both were discontinued in 2003 (the 2004 model line).
No word on the Firebird, but go to images.yahoo.com and check out pics of the 2008 Camaro.
