I am 22 and I have never been pregnant, I look on the internet about this line "linea nigra" i think it's called but you aren't supposed to get it till the 2nd trimester, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, that was 2 days ago, I'm worried about this, could this be a sign of pregnancy or does anyone know what else it could be from????

This line is caused by melatonin. The line is caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy that create the melatonin to be deposited there. The line isn't the only pigmentation that can happen during pregnancy. There is the ' mask of pregnancy ' when the melatonin is deposited on the face. I have darkened skin around my ankles.

No, you're not pregnant, but, something is going on inside of you hormonally. I'm not too sure if you should worry about it. Normal hormone levels are notorious for being very broad.

You are mostly likely dark skinned with dark hair. A light blonde might never get this line even when prgnant. You ansestory is probably dark and lots of hair on the body. It just might be your hormones. Have you ever taken any hormones. like the pill? they fool the body into thinking it is pregnant thus no eggs are produced. Don't concern yourself over this line...you are just a healthy female. If you worry about it, check it out with your doctor.

There could be many reasons for getting a "line on your stomach". Weight loss, weigh gain, clothes being too tight...I wouldn't worry. If you are worried you are pregnant, try a pregnancy test..... don't be checking for lines on your stomach. Peeing on a stick is much easier...and more accurate.

Your pants are too tight and are cutting off circulation! Obese people get this too. It's where the waist-line cuts off the circulation and the outter layer of skin begins to die and turn dark brown.

I'm very surprised that you're fair skinned. This problem is usually related to skin of color. Pregnent women get it due to skin stretching then you know ...
