Aunt May already knows all about Peter being Spiderman. And he's doing it to comply with a new Law that passed that requires the registration of all superheroes. Everyone is supposed to unmask, thus a Civil War has broken out where some superheroes are fine with it, like She-Hulk, the Fantastic Four, and others who have never really protected a secret identity. Iron Man is leading the side in favor of revealing their true identities. Iron Man has already admitted that he is yet again Tony Stark.
The other side is being led by Captain America, who had his reveal a few years ago, but he is on the side of protecting one's rights to privacy.
Everyone already knows Matt Murdoch is Daredevil, which is why he's in prison in the first place. And Frank Castle as Punisher never made much of an attempt to protect his identity.

Civil war is marvels new cross over event and it is all over a new superhuman registration act. In the last issue of the Amazing Spider-man, Peter asked his family. M.J. was with Peter, but then Aunt may spoke up saying that he should unmask and that he should be proud and that he should not have to protect her anymore (promise to uncle ben). Peter was asked to do this by Tony Stark (ironman). In short, If Spider-man does (he hasn't yet) aunt may knows what is going on, and deardevil and the punisher are on the anti-registration act.

I heard about this, too and I'm not really sure it's a good thing-especially for those heros who have people close to them(like Spiderman). The main reason they don the mask in the first place is to protect those close to them,in other words,to keep their enemies from using their loved ones to get to them. However, for those who are loners(like Batman,Daredevil,Captain America, etc)I can see how privacy would be an issue.
