Try growing the herb Rosemary in pots or the ground around your deck. It's a perennial evergreen here in GA. We also break small branches of it off & rub it on our skin while outside. Also rub it over the dog to repel mosquitos & bugs.

YES. They have the citronella plants. Plant them in pots around the house. But unfortunately it isn't a 100% cure, not in Florida. Hardest thing to get rid of especially if you live near water. While sitting outse, this willl sound crazy, do a couple of things (1) light lots of citronella candles (2) spray with deet repellant; (3) have fans on around you - this will keep them away from you. (4) don't let any water sit in a puddle near you (5) we used also the green spirals that you light and would put under the chairs and this would keep the mosquitoes, no-see-ums and other creepy crawleys away....But the fan works! A strong one or two.

I haven't been able to repel the mosquitos:( Even tried one of those machines from Lowe's. If you live near a body of water, you might try putting up bat houses. They eat a lot of mosquitos.

You might try a plant called Gasplant or Dictamus. It even smells like citronella. But some people are sensitive to having the oils from the plant on their skin. They have a lovely, tall, flower in late May, early June. Seeds look like anise seeds and are shaped like a daisy.

There's a breed of bloomless Geraniums, I think they are like eucalyptas (sp?) geraniums, or something, they work very well. I was also told lemon grass, which is a tall grass will work and also euclayptas trees too.

Bats are a good choice and so are Martins- You will need to get Martin house to attract them as they are picky birds and won't live just anywhere.
