You don't want to have two firewalls running at the same time. You do need to have one running though.
Not sure why the person above says to not use Zone Alarm, I have various computers running Zone Alarm and Norton Internet Security. Both are acceptable to me. You might want to check out the comodo firewall, it received good reviews in PC Magazine recently.

Use the Xp firewall, and the Zone Alarm if you wish. The wireless router has some nice hard firewall features.

Are you attempting to connect consisting of your figure's on the spot community? Then no, you do not choose a 2d router, only their WEP or WPA key information to sign up. The ISP neither counts nor cares what number pcs or shoppers connect through their account. A firewall provides you a layer of protection yet because you're already in the back of a gateway utilising inner most information superhighway addresses this isn't strictly necessary. including a 2d on the spot router to the combination is neither necessary (presuming you have not got any subject matters with coverage, then you actually would opt for an antennae or repeater extremely than yet another router) nor suitable because it provides you an unecessary layer of complexity and would reason addressing subject matters that stay away from all of us from connecting to the web. If this does no longer answer your question, please restate it in a more desirable cohesive style and that i'd be happy to assist.

No, a firewall monitors both incoming and outgoing connections, you want Zone Alarm or Outpost. Don't use the Windows XP firewall, because that doesn't monitor outgoing connections.
Hope this helps.

I run 3 firewalls and have not had many problems.
One is in my router, then I run the one that comes with XP, and finally I run Agnitum Outpost ( free version).
I have had to turn some of them off in rare instances but it's been so long ago I can't remember what I was trying to do when that happened.
It may be a waste of resources but I feel it's safer anyway.

I would suggest that you use any one of the Software Firewalls.
Either Windows or Zone Alarm
i've turned the windows firewall on my pc off.
Secondly, leave the firewall ON on the router and the modem.

no, you can have uninvited visitors. Zone Alarm is not recommended though.
