There are a number of scientific studies that do just that. I've linked to Wikipedia which sums up some of them, but the overall conclusion is that sexual orientation is determined in utero and is due to a number of factors, not just genetics.
The identical twin studies, especially those where one twin was straight and one gay, indicated that there's more going on than genetics.
Simon Levay's study of brain structure indicated that homosexuals have a larger hypothalamus than heterosexuals. There have been other studies showing that gay men think like straight women as the brain activity was observed.
There's a finger-length study, indicating that women with a certain middle finger length are more likely to be gay.
There are birth order studies, where straight male children were born first and a gay male child later, suggesting that there may be hormonal influence on sexual orientation.
But whatever you think, know that it is not chosen. No one would choose to be ostracized, ridiculed, and made to feel a lesser citizen.

Freud and those of his ilk had sex as the answer for most of our mental woes, and that sex started as children. Frankly, from what I've seen, homosexuality is a recruited thing during an opportune moment of puberty. Guys will get an erection at anything and if another guy is in sight at the time, some gay squirrel will be whispering, "See, you're one of us." Then he'll go giggling off to his boyfriends how he got another one. I've heard there was a supposedly gay gene, but then there is also a supposedly God gene that makes us believe there is a God too--religion from cellular chemistry. Let me figure this one, if the evolutionist is right and we reproduce by the urging of our "selfish gene" and that survival is based on the fittest perpetuating, as in their selfish gene is very successful. Then homosexuality, if it is genetic, is a self-distructive gene, a sort of genetic suicide pill--males mating males don't perpetuate that gene, nor do females going through the motions with females. Come to think of it, were I gay, and I am not, I would not be too proud of a homosexual gene, because it will not perpetuate me..

its a claim for now, nothing has been proven or disproven.......what the majority of gay & lesbians and the scientific community are saying is that its looking more & more as though people are wired one way or the other (for the sake of arugment I'm leaving out bisexuals and trans). Most gays & lesbians had some hint by adolescence but some knew or showed signs at a very early age........for me, I was 5 when I had my first girl crush......for my son, he was 2 when I began to wonder...(and yes, he is, I was right, although his father didnt have a clue til the boy came out).....and for the record I have 3 other children that are straight.......actually make that 2 for sure, my 9yr old could still surprise everyone.....
~just my 2 cents~

Every faery childe's name is written in the Book of Faery before they are born... and after the first three days of life that childe's guardian Faery will visit the child, put on a small performance or tell bawdy jokes that only faery children of that age can understand and make it laugh. Parents who want to know if their child is blessed by the faery must pay close attention those first three days because ordinary children do not make laughing or giggling sounds until they are a little older.

Infants and toddlers do not exhibit sexual behavior that involves other people. Their world is self centered. As a child develops, they become aware of their body parts, but it is not of a sexual nature. It's more of a 'I wonder how this works?' kind of thing. That usually occurs around the time a child is potty training(around age 3).I do have several gay friends, both male and female, and alot of them say they remember knowing they were gay from a young age.The ball park age was in early adolescence.

Bite Me beat me to the answer - how exactly is heterosexuality present at birth? Why is it so hard to believe that it's exactly the same in reverse? People are born straight, gay or bi, but you sure can't tell by looking at an infant which one it is since babies aren't sexual.

it is present, only the baby would have to be expressed to the gay lifestyle early on during when the baby is a toddler or can talk for it to be expressed. otherwise, homosexuality would be expressed when he child goes through puberty. i was attracted to men when i was in kindergarten at 5 years old. my sisters had chippendales posters and calendars posted in the walls of their rooms and i couldn't take my eyes off.

genetically. There are many studies (increasing numbers) that imply it very strongly, most recently the fruitfly study. Actual exact 100% identification on the human genome is (in my opinion) 15-25 years away. At that point they will start aborting us.
Ah well.

The only way is if the doctor or one of the nurses who aided in the delivery were gay.
P.S.I'm a big adversary of same sex marriages.Marriage is a religious union of 1 man and 1 woman.Homosexuality is pretty much against any religious belief I've ever heard of.If you want to have a same sex partner,go through legal avenues,i.e. draw up a contract of a monogamous partnership between you that will allow much of the same rights as marriage.God will not sanctify same sex marriages.

i don't know how it could be proven at this point in time, all i can say is that i had a perfectly normal childhood, no molestation, didn't play with dolls, didn't dress up in my moms clothes, didn't do anything out of the "norm" for a little boy but when i was in kindergarten i asked another little boy to be my boyfriend... [my mom loves telling that story lol, embaressing... anyway] if that doesn't say something though, i don't know what does.
