Humility is the opposite of pride.
Pride stems from focus on oneself. Humility includes concern for others. Basically, it is an unselfish desire to put others before self.

Beyond the literal and obvious, it is possible for someone to *act* "humble" and not be humble in the slightest, you know?
Personally, I look at humility as something deeper: it's the opposite of being a narcissist. A humble person does NOT believe the world revolves around them and would in fact be terrified by the idea of being the center of the universe. Or even the center of attention.
Any good English translation of the Tao Te Ching says it much the same way, that there are only three things to remember in life:
--Be kind.
--Keep it simple. (that is the hardest one for me, duh)
--Don't try to be at the center of things.
Just my two cents, for what it is worth.

I think this passage from the Bible sums it up pretty well.
"Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:3-11
