People who work 40+ hours a week get paid squat while actors/actresses, ball players, and the like get paid so much more and they don't work NEARLY as hard as people in the REAL world?? I've always wondered that. I mean you have people that bust their butts for minumum wage and they are doing jobs that a lot of people wouldn't do...and the "other" people in the world don't do much at all and they get paid millions???

I was talking about the movie actresses...not the theater ones...I know the theater ones work hard.

If you are talking about movies, then yes, actors/actresses get paid too much for too little work. But girl, you obviously don't know about the stage theater world. Are you kidding me? Actors in theater work harder than anyone else I know and get practically nothing in return. I'm one of them. I bust my behind for only a few hundred dollars a show, which doesn't even come CLOSE to reimbursing me for all the driving and time. And with gas prices so high nowadays, it is really hard on the bank account. A few hundred doesn't make up for thousands spent getting there.

So next time you think that actors/actresses in theater get paid too much for too little work, think again. 99% of them have the exact opposite happen to them.

I've asked this question myself, and the answer I always get is that the actors and sports professionals are paid what they are because the fans are willing to support them with ticket sales and whatnot. The actors/sports people can demand X million per movie/year because they know people are going to pay to see the movies/games. It doesn't seem fair, but Joe Everybody is to blame for it.

Actors and athletes get paid that much because that's what the market will bear. As long as we keep paying $10 per mvoie icket or $50+ for a crappy arena seat, they're gonna get that money.
As for minimum wage, any shlub off the street will do.

Keep in mind that actors and athletes also had to work to get to where they are.

because they are highly skilled in what they do, not anyone can dunk like mike, you have to be born with the ability and the drive to achieve those hights that others cannot. anyone can work a job at W-mart for a minimum wage working for sam, but we pay athletes and stars vast sums of money because they are scarce. ECONOMICS!
