I have a degree and am a veteran. I am a hard worker, but I can't show it if no one lets me try.

I don't think anyone can give you a perfect answer to this question without knowing all the details. What line of work are you in? Have you tried submitting your resume online at Monster.com or another employment site? What about an employment agency? Don't give up!

The reason may be many different things. The first ten seconds of an interview can make or break you. Practice questions before you go into an interview and think of what you would say, say it out loud and really rehearse. Many universities have career management centers that will help you put a great resume together (don't use templates on Publisher) and help you practice interview techniques.
Dress the part for the job. Wear appropriate clothing to the interview and show confidence in yourself.
Nerviousness does not break you, it can be flattering and a sign that you really want to be there.
Good luck!

I can understand your situation. I have 3 degrees. I can't find *any* work, let alone a good job. My only choice was to become self-employed in a field that I can do well in. Maybe this is an option for you?

Could it be age? Some companies are reluctant to hire employees approaching retirement years because they view them as a future liability.

If not age...
-Do you have a resume?
-Do you submit a cover letter with your resume?
-Do you follow up on interviews with a thank you note/card?
-Are you under-shooting or over-shooting your career level?
-How do you dress for an interview? Is it inline with the common dress code of the company?

The job market seems to be overrun now, don't be discouraged. I have been seeking a part time job myself for a few months and have yet to find it.

Best of luck to you.

try:
monster.com
craigslist.com

both are great

Maybe because you are a veteran they are not willing to give you the time because they know you will have to retire.

Maybe you should be willing to relocate, and then search on the web. All kinds of workers are needed everywhere, you'll find something.
