Why do terrorists want to attack the USA so much instead of other countries??

To all of the Republicans who say that Bush is the one protecting us from terrorists: Is it possible that the main reason that terrorists want to attack us is BECAUSE OF BUSH??!

Have you ever read the 9/11 commission report? There is one really interesting chapter, about foresight vs hindsight, and about the lack of imaginative thought used in terrorist investigations leading up to 9/11.

There is one point in this chapter where the authors are talking about the US' relations with far away countries, and about the increasing globalization in this world. The US exports not just goods but culture, in the form of clothing and food and movies and other entertainment. We import very little culture from other nations. What they said was that because of this uneven cultural trade, places like Afghanistan and Iraq seem very far away to Americans, but to Afghanis and Iraqis, the US seems very close.

I think terrorists want to attack the US--partly, at least--because of this uneven cultural trade: we're SO in their faces with our new and different everything, and people feel that their own cultures are threatened by it. In one sense it's not our fault, because exporting this stuff and making money is just what we do, and many many people love what we have to offer. In another sense we can be insensitive to other cultures because of this sense of them being very far away.

Well, they started attacking us long before Bush came along, remember the Clinton years? Also, we did get attacked on 9\11 but not since then.
They want to attack us for alot of reasons; too many to list. We made a mistake when we supported the Afghans against the Russians and then just walked away and Bush Sr. should have taken out Saddam when he had the chance.

US has had a very very bad history.... they did slave trade. used to turture them, used blacks as guinny pigs to experiment on.......and now their aim is to spread their $ all over the world... and in their pursuit of that they put up their bases in different countries....then slowly and steadily try getting into the politics of those countries and force them do things their way...... these AMerican policitians just want power and for that they can do anything.
The terrorist as the world media displays are those people who have been forced to be violent. Imagine some one coming and God forbid raping your sister or your mother....... will you be quite will you be patient....... these american soldiers (not all but some inhuman beings) think they are bosses and exploit women, men and like for example Iraq (touturing men and women), Bosnia and so many other places. Let me give you another example :Gandhi was a freedom fighter for us Indians but for the British he was a terrorist, other freedom fighter were also terrorist for the British but for us Indians they were FREEDOM FIGHTERS.
We have understand that since the media is in US's control to a large extend they are showing as those they are very good and only want to help other countries ... that is not the truth, they are like snakes waiting for a chance to bite the opposite party.
And it is not only US that is facing this problem there are so many countries which are having terrorist problems..... remember the peole who are actually scaring people are terrorist for some and freedom fighters for some.
You may also ask why are they killing poeple to achieve this goal.... then think ... how many battles have been won without killing taking place.... Did India get indendence just like that...did Vietnam or other countries get independence with out violence....no! it is not possible. No body i happy if some stranger comes and governs our own country or for that matter interfer in your personal affairs ..... The people all over the world expect the same.... these attacks on US will come to an end if they keep off from intefering with other countries business.

How many poeple do you think died in Iraq during Saddam's tenure......look now 10s and 100s are dying DAILY... is this what US wants....they say they have come to soread PEACE .. is this peace.Similarly Afganisthan .... i can name many more countries.


Note : I am not against the US, the common American man is good, but it is only because of the stupid policies which the people sitting in higher positions which causes all this trouble coming their way. I too pray that there should be no more voilence in US or anywhere in this world, but i do not think that will happen........because man can do anything for MONEY......man is one creature who has outrun all creatures in MASS DESTRUCTION and he will continue to do so, you and i can only pray

Excellent question. To understand it, you need an honest understanding of the history of this country, in particular our foreign policy. Sounds boring right? It's not.

I suggest starting with Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" to fill in what your teachers left out.

Also, question whether or not there are that many terrorists that want to attack us, or if there are only a few and the government is just taking advantage of the threat to control our lives and make us live in fear. In our time it's the terrorists, before that it was the communists, before that it was the blacks, Irish, Native Americans, etc.

Terrorists have been targeting the USA for decades, so to blame it on the present US president is absolutely ridiculous! Get the facts.

To answer your question, you would have to delve into the sick mind of a terrorist. My guess would be that it's plain and simple jealousy at what America represents. It's just like a bully on the playground at school. Why does a bully bother another child? Because the bully hates their own life and has to blame their misery on another person.

I guess they want Sharia Law everywhere and we want democracy, ie representative republic. Given the choice in the end people will choose democracy. It's just a matter of time. Meanwhile people are dieing under their brand of fascism.

no longer unavoidably, because of the fact no longer all terrorists are from the middle East, or in the middle East. yet a minimum of no terrorists have attacked us on US soil on account that 9/11/01 and that i'm grateful and satisfied approximately that.

Because the current administration is so vehemently opposed to Islamic countries. Also, because we represent the equivalent of Sodom and Gomorra to fundamentalist Muslims. They feel it is their right and obligation to wipe our "evil" influence off the face of the earth, much like fundamentalist Christians feel a need to eliminate homosexuals and abortion clinic doctors and nurses. In other words, people read things like the Bible and the Koran too literally.

Because Bush is a war monger, and he is "invading" other countries to take something thats not his. And the USA is the biggest threat. Biggest Army's etc etc.
