You need to specify what email software you are using.
Microsoft outlook?, Yahoo, LotusCC mail, Mac?
If you are using Microsoft, you need to copy the .pst file where the data is stored.

Do a search in your pc as: *.pst, the file you find contains all the email including contact list.

Whatever client you are using, it should be supporting a "Export" feature, which allows you to save your address book as a CSV (Comma Separated Values). Do that. Now save that generated CSV anywhere you want. Put it on mail, or on a CD or print it out. It is your backup.

In fact I recommend doing this once every fornight.

All I can think to do is type them out in wordpad or notebook and then burn them to cd or put them on your floppy disk.
