I went about a month ago to the dermatologist to see what she could do about my acne. I have mild acne/rosacea on my forhead and cheeks. Its ugly bulgy and some look like craters. She gave me an anti-biodic called Nicomide which is to be taken twice a day. And she also gave me a gel topic cream called Finacea which I also put on twice a day on my face. I saw almost no improvement in this month that I have been doing this. I plan to go back to the dermatologist this week. I need help in what do I say to her. What if she gives me some other cream crap that doesn't do ****. Or should I ask about the laser treatments. I need help, Please.

ok start with this, drink only water.
you will want to get a decent filter, even a Britta or a Pur filter as most city's water is horrible.

I'm not sure how old you are,but I would just give your body some time. Acne, is an internal infection with external symptoms. You can treat the symptoms and have you become less active, but you will still have acne. Often, acne goes away by the mid-teens to early twenties. Don't ruin your skin with laser treatment and tons of burning creams. I know it's tough, but try to using the Finacea or a Retinol based cream for at least 3 months, stay with the antibiotics, and also get into sulfur. Ask your parents to take you to Sephora or place that carries skin care, and buy a 10% sulfur mask(www.peterthomasrothusa.com), and sulfur pills(also avalible in GNC). Sulfur is a natural bacterica killer and purifier. The most mosr most most important thing for you to do is stay out of the sun, and tanning beds. The actual acne scars are caused by UVA/UVB rays from the sun. These rays make the body produce melanin and make them very resistant to leaving. So wear a SPF of 15 or 30 at least twicw a day everyday, eve when you are sitting in the house. G'luck and be patient, i know it seems like for ever ,but you'll be fine.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Don't scrub anything no way no how! With rosacea you need to be really gentle with your skin. It's already quite mad enough!!! No scrubbing, no heat, no alcohol, no spicy foods, no caffeine. Drink 2 litres of water a day, lots of green leafy vegetables, try a Vit B supplement. Oh and live yoghurt every day to help your digestion - some people think digestion and rosacea are linked. I don't know but mine's never as bad when I'm having my live yoghurt on fruit every day. Hmmm....

I use a honey based cleanser and various different creams, oils and lotions, depending on what my skin is up to that day: emu oil, Graphites, Hypercal, calendular, Allergenics....

You'll also need to be patient. Sometimes it can take months to get a result, and months not to get a result - and then you have to try a different tack. It might take a couple of months or more to know whether what you are using is making a difference. Rosacea sits around without being diagnosed for years, and you can't expect it to go away after a week! I've had it for at least two years, probably longer, so it's going to take about that to get it under control. Once it's under control, I will be able to control it. Gotta work out what it's rules are first. It's a sneaky opponent.

Kind of like war really. Observe the enemy, take notes, develop tactics, train yourself to notice everything new.

You'll win eventually!

(Also, surf the net like MAD, people are really generous with their recommendations for treatment and you pick up tips all over the place. Try typing in ROSACEA TREATMENT and see what comes up. Work your way through all the alternatives out there, take notes, do all the cheap remedies first. You never know. The thing that works most for me is emu oil and that's one of the cheapest things I've tried. It might not work for everyone because rosacea is different for everyone - just don't throw money at it without checking out the practitioner first, be patient and you'll win. Good luck.)

I hate to sound like a commercial, however PROACTIVE is the best stuff going for any acne problems. just go on-line to proactive.com and do some research. Then get a kit and just try that for 30 days. I was prone to have acne all my life, my dad had it bad. However, the 1st time I tried proactive, I sent it back and they did refund me. They do have a money back guarantee. I finally decided to try the product again 3 months ago, I've tried all kinds of remedies and nothing works like it. its worth a try. Just be realistic and don't look for an overnight wonder cure. It better than continuing with all the expensive __ you are paying for now that's keeping you frustrated! Good Luck!

Stay away from all soda's, chocolate, chips, and greasy foods. Then, get yourself a good cleanser like Olay for acne the one with the granules in it. Use it in the morning and before you go to bed. Keep your hands AWAY from your face at all times.

If you do what I've mentioned, you should see a difference within a week. I noticed a difference in one day... but I don't want to get your hopes up too high.

Good luck!

If you are scrubbing your face well and this medicine still is not working than tell your dermatologist this. Sometimes it can take a few tries to get it right. I grew up in the 80's when there were no meds. for this. So I scarred big time

Tell her exactly what you are telling us. If you are not satisfied look for a second opinion or a third opinion, You should also be careful with what you eat. Spicy foods trigger rosacea.
