My first question is this: are you sure he's ignoring you? There may be a perfectly valid reason. Did you send him an email and he just hasn't responded? Did you send him an IM that he didn't reply to? Did you call and leave a vmail and not get a call-back?

First, make sure that he is not out-of-town on a family emergency. If you are positive that he has been receiving your messages and purposely not responding to you, only then should you proceed with what I call my secret weapon: the handwritten letter.

Write him a letter that says the following:
1. Intro paragraph. Tell him that you really value your friendship and that you are concerned about him. He has not been responding to your calls/ims/emails like he normally does, and you would like to know what's wrong.

2. Body. Tell him that you are not sure if there is anything going on in his life (maybe he is depressed and not speaking to anyone? maybe a relative passed away and he is trying to cope with the loss?), but that you want to be there for him because you care about him. He should know that he can call you any time, day or night.

3. Body, Part II. Tell him that if nothing is wrong, that you were worried that he was angry with you. Describe your last interaction and how you thought that all was well between you at that time. Apologize in advance if you offended him and assure him that it was completely unintentional. Finally, tell him that if it was something that you did, that you would like to talk about it.

4. Finally... Tell him that you miss talking to him and hope that everything is ok. Tell him that you were thinking of some fun time that you guys shared together and that you hope to see him soon. Tell him to take care of himself and sign it

Your friend always,
XXXXXX

Then, deliver it straight to his door or mail it to his house. Either way, nothing has the impact of a handwritten note in terms of sincerity and thoughtfulness. Try it. I promise he'll be back in no time. ;)

Someone else is occupying his time and he doesn't have time for you anymore. So, if that isn't the problem you really need to sit him down and ask me what is really going on in his life and let him know that you are there for him if he needs a shoulder to cry on or he needs someone just to talk about what's going on.

Call him or go up to him and find out why you haven't talked in a while.

MAYBE HE'S DATING SOMEONE YOU BOTH KNOW AND SHE DOES NOT WANT HIM CHATTING WITH YOU. WHO KNOWS GUYS ARE FUNNY AT TIMES.
