you may have a dirty or restricted condenser {coil out side where the fan and compressor are} or your evaporator might need to be cleaned --has to be remove and washed by a a/c tech freon has to be remove . maybe you might have an insulation problem- not enough-.

I just had the same thing happen.

I called ARS and a man came and told me it was the Compressor and it would cost $1280. I told him to take a hike and called someone else and they had it fixed in 10 minutes.

It was just a capacitor.

So be careful.

Two other things it could be is a relay switch that sometimes gets junked up with bugs or ants, or perhaps the thermostat in the home itself. But do not just replace the Compressor if they tell you it is that.

Get at least one other opinion best done by a local person probably. Hopefully they live in your area.

if the system is working fine as you say then the system is to small
ask the a/d tech if he checked the freon level
also ask him if the coils were dirty
he should have checked these things already when he replaced the fuses as this only takes a minute and a good mechanic would have checked these basics

Check the filter.. if it is dirty then change it.

You may want them to check the freon.... normally when the freon is low it will not cool enough.

ALso you can take the hose and clean off the outside A/C unit.. sometimes that will get dirty and then it will not cool enough.

Then make sure your thermostat is reading correctly or set correctly.

He must not be a very smart or efficient AC guy, it obviously needs to be recharged with FREON.... Ours was doing the same thing, our AC guy checked the levels with a gauge he had, and then recharged the system with freon, and now we practically freeze to death!!

I would get a different "AC Guy".
The unit probably needs cleaning (coils and condensor), also make sure there aren't any leaves or other debris covering AC unit. Also probably have freon checked.

I'll tell you exactly what it is because it happened to me two weeks ago. You need the AC guy to put freon. You are running low on it.

the freon may need filling. the bad thing is that you don't know if the repair guy screwed with something. But usually if it is not kicking out cold air it is the freon.

Freon level... Most likely or a bad compressor.

dirty filter
low on freon
compressor not working properly
sorry but you need an AC Tech to solve this problem
