The father's last name if he's going to be in the child's life, but the mother's if he's not.

depends on how serious the couple is or how serious the father is. If your American traditional the baby will take the fathers name, but if the father does not want to be involved and will not know the baby then the mothers'

The baby can have both last names if they both agree on it if not and she wants him to pay child support then the baby should have his last name.Now on the other hand if they get along well it really shouldn't matter what the baby's last name should be.

Father's last name. The kid shouldn't have to be different then any other kid just because his parent's didn't get married. Not having the father's last name just gives the kid another crappy thing to deal with.

I think if the father is going to be there for him, then it needs to take it's fathers name. If the child is never going to know his daddy, he needs his mothers last name. It doesn't need to grow up with no daddy wondering why his name is different from his moms.

in the dads name if u plan on getting married because in australia if the childs in the mums name and they do get married the father has to adopt the child to give him his own name

WHATEVER THE MOTHER CHOOSES IT TO BE. IF YOU ARE NOT MARRIED WHEN THE CHILD IS BORN IT IS THE MOTHERS CHOICE. IF YOU ARE LIVING TOGETHER AND WISH HIM TO BE PART OF THE BABIES LIFE THEN GIVE THE CHILD HIS NAME BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

the father's last name ---- I am presently I have full custody of my 14 year old and she has her mother's last name and I never even met her until she was 11 yrs old

I think the guy's last name also its easier if you then file for child support
