i want to install my printer in my pc without a modem but the printer needs a newer version of ie which i have to download and cant do because the pc has no modem and has extra no pci slot to install a modem...

Easy. First get a wired or wireless router and don't connect directly to a DSL or Cable modem, to many potential risk. The router can be wired or wireless since most wireless ones have at least 4 wired ports as well. You can then get wireless cards or USB adapters for any PC's you want connected via wireless and wire the others such as the one with the Lan card.
The printer can be shared as well either using Windows printer sharing or wireless print servers. I actually have one I need to get rid of that a customer decided they did not want. Some low end printers will be hard ot share.
