I was thinking of going with a laptop for college but I'm not sure 1500 will cover all that I want it to do (ie gaming, tv recording). What desktop specifications do you reccomend? AMD or Intel? Single processor or two? What graphics card? Keep in mind I want a large monitor also (so I can double it as a tv) so my budget is more like 1300 or less. Thanks alot!

2GB DDR Ram, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (for your TV), 250GB hard drive, AMD Athalon FX @ 3.2GHz, Dual layer DVD burner with lightscribe, USB ports, Wireless keyboard and mouse......go to Alienware or DELL and I could build you one for 1300 to 1500 for you easy

It depends on the game but I would get a good graphics card, but a processor speed being good is probably better than graphics since if the processor is too slow then the game will run badly but if the graphics are poor it won't make any difference except for visually, I'm not amazing with computers but that's just what I'm thinking. I have a good graphics card but I have a pretty slow processor, and I would trade my graphics card in for a lower quality one if I could have a faster processor to run my games better. I would definitely try to get at least 1GB of ram... and my graphics card has 128 on it and it works well enough... the graphics look good anyways. It's a GeForce FX 5200 or something like that. I don't think you should get a laptop.

Go to http://www.vigorgaming.com you can build your own gaming pc for that amount of money or less. I suggest AMD for games Intel seems to be slipping.NVedia has really good video cards. You can mix and match on the site. Have fun.
