Best maps for travel in Germany?
You may want to check with the ADAC, the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club, the General German Automobile Club, see phone book.
Or through the Internet ahead of travel:
ADAC Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club - [ Translate this page] Aktuelle Informationen zu Auto, Reise, Versicherungen, Verkehr, Mitgliedschaft, Technik, Tests sowie Routenplaner, Reiseführer und Sehenswürdigkeiten. ADAC ...
Translated:
ADAC General German Automobile-Club - Current information on car, travel, insurance, traffic, membership, technique, tests as well as route planners, travel guides and tourist attractions.
Refuel cheaply worldwide
The General German Automobile Association (ADAC) gives two per cent discount to people with an ADAC card at every gas station.
From the translated page:
Who pays at the gas station starting from 1 June with one of the new General German Automobile Association mobile maps, two per cent gets discount on each calculation. The special at these credit cards: The discount applies worldwide at each gasoline pump, with each fuel mark and to each article bought at a gas station. More…
That's unfortunately a poor translation of the German text, which reads:
"Weltweit billig tanken
ADAC gibt an jeder Tankstelle zwei Prozent Rabatt
Meaning:
Holders of the ADAC card get 2% discount at all German gas stations starting June 1, 2006, when showing the ADAC card. This discount applies even worldwide to fuel (any station, any brand) and items bought at that station. And more ...
Happy travel! Enjoy!

By far the best maps of Germany and Europe I've gotten were from gas stations here. I have a thick book full of maps that detail most of the european countries, including all the tiny villages other maps won't show you. I got it from a gas station in Germany. And believe me, if you want to travel around and know where you're at when you're not on the autobahn you want a good detailed map to show you every town you're going to hit!

And for info on a world famous German landmark, check out
http://www.nurburgring.org.uk (I guess you could call it the German equivalent of the Indianapolis SuperSpeedway in terms of legendary circuits..... except it's 13miles long and has 73 underwear threatening corners).

you can either order ahead on Amazon, or just stop on a bigger gas station in Germany and by them right there. the big ones are called Strassenatlas (Street Maps) and there is everything in there.
