Remy-there are very FEW conservatives in power now. Neocons yes, not real conservatives. But your question does not address whether you mean government conservatives or the populace. Really the answer is no to both. Conservatives (real ones) are now considered divisive, intolerant and xenophobes. They (like for example conspiracy theorists, ring a bell?) are against globalism and loss of national identity. They could be contributing to the destruction of America by backing down, giving up and capitulating to the powers that be. Your thoughts?

Who's getting caught stealing tax payer money? The big bribes come from special interest groups and corporations. There's got to be 100 politicians taking bribes or inappropriate gifts for every one that blatantly embezzles money.

I don't think believe Democrats should be in power forever. But I think it is a good time to have a Democrat in the White House and more in the senate. They can be a good thing once in awhile. The parties balance each other out. Well, they used too. I'm afraid the republican party has taken a strangle hold over the country, and we are on a slippery slope. There is a reason you can only be president for 4 years. The Bushes got 8, and I think even hardcore Republicans have to be disappointed with the outcome, here.

Why people are blindly pro-Reb or pro-Democrat puzzles me. This country has always operated with a balance of BOTH parties. It is unhealthy when one party becomes too powerful. The Florida voting fiasco, Halliburton, and Iraqi occupation are clear signs that this country is becoming sick. Not to mention Dick Cheney is shooting people in the face with shotguns.

It is always the way. Those in power manipulate the system to benefit themselves and maintain the status quo so that they and their progeny continue to abuse the system. Unfortunately it is the powerless that get shafted every time.

There are some that are afraid of socialism because they relate it to totalitarianism. This is an incorrect assumption, all countries including the US are socialist to a degree and it is thos ein comfortable positions that oppose it. You will never find someone who is forced to receive welfare oppposing it.

And to fr_chuck, 2 things. First, of course the majority of the military are conservative, thats the result of brainwashing, and they are brainwashed. The first thing that the military does is to braek the recruits down so that they can be rebuilt in the desired mold, and that includes a large degree of conservatism, The second thing is that although most conservatives call themselves christians, Christ's teachings were very socialist oriented.

Which conservatives are you talking about?

The first group is the ultra-wealthy that have a decent amount of control over congress with a preference for republicans, and the US agenda, including the 100s of $billions of dollars that are spent from taxpayer's money. They generally have assets of over $100,000,000 (million), an amount that 99.9% of americans can't imagine. They buy, control and sell property, people, assets, capital, power and influence that most people can't imagine, especially the 2nd group of conservatives.

The second group are the suckers that believe in the first group, and that the first group is pursuing and protecting their interests.
And most importantly, this 2nd group isn't even close to the first group in terms of assets and wealth.

So, the answer is yes to both groups.

I don't think any particular political party is "ruining" America. After all, it would take a lot more than four or eight years to wreck the entire country.
