It's called "Posse Commentates." It was passed in the late 1880's so as to assure the Federal Government didn't have to much power to control the populace.

Because the United States is not a Military governed country. If it were they would. Local law enforcement would not exsist in that case,just your military.

something about the military can't govern the nation, policing fits into government. if the president declared martial law, then the military has policing control.

It is not military work...We all should take care of our own part...People kill each other for money, revenge, out of greed, anger etc. and there are tens of thousands of people dying on Highways every year...that is much more than in current war against terrorism...We all should take responsibility for our own actions and try to live in peace with everyone.

That is not the miltary's job unless there is civil unrest where the local police cannot handle and then it is up to the Governor of the state to request Federal Troops.
