In the TCG,you have to properly summon the ritual monster. For example:
Use "White Dragon Ritual" and number of stars for the ritual summon. I have Luster Dragon #2 in my hand which is 6 stars, which qualifies for the ritual.
Then I bring out "Pladian Of White Dragon" ritual card, you can either attack with it or go to main phase 2,speical summon your "Blue Eyes-White Dragon" card into the field.
If you summon the card correctly then you can reborn the ritual monster back from the graveyard.
I hope this helps out there.

a ritual summon is a special summon, but you need all spell monster and proper tributes. though u cant spec. summon from your hand or grave unless it is stated in the card that is used.
